MustangPEBuilder 2

MustangPEBuilder 2 is a GUI based program to build a custom WinPE 2.0 (Vista) or WinPE 3.0 (Windows 7) x86 Recovery CD. All that is needed is to have the free Microsoft Windows Automated Installation Kit (WAIK) installed on the system running MustangPEBuilder 2. The WinPE 2.0 or WinPE 3.0 OPK can also be used instead of the WAIK.

MustangPEBuilder 2 includes a Windows like desktop. It also includes a unique Plugin format for adding custom applications to the build. Plugins can be written in the form of Windows executables (.exe), Windows Command script (.cmd) or AutoIt3 (.au3). This makes it convenient to write plugins. No need to learn a new scripting language.

The reason for creating MustangPEBuilder 2 was to make the process of building a custom WinPE 2.0 or WinPE 3.0 based CD as easy as possible. Most of the options used in the normal building of a customized WinPE can be handled from the GUI. There is an Advanced Option button to handle more advanced functions. Creating a customized WinPE CD is now fun. See the screenshots below.

Plugins for Acronis products are available. It is intended that users will create and share plugins for many programs as MustangPEBuilder 2 gains in popularity.

Requirements:

1. You must have the Acronis product installed on the computer you are using to build the CD for the Acronis plugins to work.

2. MustangPEBuilder 2 is intended for use with Windows XP SP2, Windows XP SP3, any version of Vista, Windows Server 2003 and Windows Server 2008. MustangPEBuilder 2 is also fully compatible with Windows 7.

3. You must download and install the free Microsoft Windows Automated Installation Kit from here WAIK. The WAIK is backwards compatible to Windows XP SP2. See the system requirements provided by Microsoft at the link. Windows 7 users will need to use the Windows 7 WAIK.

4. Plugins for Acronis True Image products that use a license server are not supported.
